Personal data (GDPR)
We comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (EU 2016/679). You stay in control of your data.
- Data we collect: your email address and display name (if you create an account), your reviews, photos, favourites, group hikes and reports. Your geolocation is processed ONLY in your browser and is never sent to our servers.
- Legal basis: your consent and our legitimate interest in running the service.
- Purposes: to provide account features, the community and personalisation.
- Retention: your data is kept for as long as your account is active, then deleted on request.
- Processors: Supabase (database and authentication), Vercel (hosting), Open-Meteo (weather), geoportail.lu and OpenStreetMap (mapping), Mobilitéit/Verkéiersverbond (timetables).
- Google Analytics 4 — Google Ireland Ltd / Google LLC (USA, Data Privacy Framework).
- Your rights: access, rectification, erasure, portability and objection. Exercise them via the contact page.
- Transfers outside the EU: some processors are based outside the European Union, with appropriate contractual safeguards.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict and port your data, and to object to or withdraw consent for its processing at any time. To exercise these rights, contact us via the contact page. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Luxembourg supervisory authority, the CNPD (Commission nationale pour la protection des données, 15 boulevard du Jour Fixe, L-1843 Luxembourg — cnpd.lu).
Cookies
No advertising tracking cookies. A technical cookie (NEXT_LOCALE) remembers your language; a session cookie is used if you sign in. Your favourites and your guest-mode location are stored locally in your browser.
Audience measurement: if you consent via the cookie banner, this site uses Google Analytics 4 (Google Ireland Ltd / Google LLC, USA — transfers covered by the Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses) to compile visit statistics. You can withdraw your consent at any time.
Geolocation
Your location is used only at your request, to find nearby trails and calculate routes. It is kept locally on your device and is never transmitted to or stored on our servers.
Intellectual property & open data
Routes, points of interest and timetables come from official open data (CC0, CC BY 4.0, ODbL), whose attributions are displayed. Content published by users remains their responsibility.
Hiking disclaimer
Hiking is undertaken entirely at your own risk. Check the weather, your gear and the hunt alerts before setting off. The list of hunts is not exhaustive — those with 12 hunters or fewer are not announced.
Despite our care, we do not guarantee the accuracy or completeness of the information. LuxTrail.lu cannot be held liable for any damage related to use of the site or to hiking.
Applicable law
This site and these terms are governed by Luxembourg law, in particular the amended law of 14 August 2000 on electronic commerce and Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR). Any dispute falls under the jurisdiction of the competent courts of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, without prejudice to the mandatory consumer-protection provisions of the user's EU country of residence.
